Help Rebuild Broken Lives!

About

What is World Refugee Care?

There are more than 70 directives throughout God's Word about how His people are to treat aliens, strangers, and refugees. Yet so often, these directives go largely ignored because of fear, ignorance, or downright apathy.

Founded in 2014, World Refugee Care is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in the United States that reaches out to immigrants and refugees around the world to bring holistic healing and restoration in the name of Jesus Christ.

Jesus had great passion for refugees—partly because He became one when He fled His homeland with His family for fear of being killed (Matthew 2:13-15). Our goal is to emulate His heart for these broken and hurting families by demonstrating His love and sharing His grace to those who are desperate for it.

Our Mission

By partnering with friends like you, World Refugee Care joins God as He rebuilds the broken lives of refugees in the United States and around the world. We do this by sharing the grace of God compassionately and showing the love of God holistically to internally and externally displaced persons impacted by war, famine, poverty, and persecution.

As we partner with generous friends like you to meet their physical and spiritual needs, our prayer is that these refugees would see the love of God in action, respond to His grace by placing their faith in Jesus Christ, and experience healing and renewal by the power of His Spirit.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in..." Matthew 25:35

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19

Our Work

Compassionate Global Renewal

Pastor Jalil Dawood fled his homeland in Iraq in 1982 during the war with Iran. After beginning a new life in the United States, Jalil made it his mission to feed and clothe physically and spiritually hungry refugees in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Today, Jalil's vision of helping rebuild broken refugee lives continues through World Refugee Care. With the help of friends like you, WRC brings hope and healing to some of the most vulnerable displaced families in areas like the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

This work is only made possible by your prayers and gifts. So thank you for your partnership to help rebuild broken lives all over the world!

Jalil's Story

Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Dr. Jalil Dawood came to the U.S. as a refugee in 1982. After settling into his new life in the States, he earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Texas at Dallas, a master’s degree in cross-cultural studies from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Today, Jalil serves as pastor of the Arabic Church of Dallas, Texas, and executive director of World Refugee Care (WRC), the Gospel-centered organization he founded to help refugees rebuild their lives. Through WRC, the lives of both Muslim and persecuted Christian refugees are being transformed for eternity.

WRC serves refugee communities locally and around the world by…

  • Training pastors and church leaders to minister to refugee communities in Europe and the Middle East
  • Empowering and assisting those pastors in planting churches within those communities
  • Supporting individual refugee families through monthly aid to help feed and clothe them
  • Encouraging persecuted Christian believers in the Middle East with both physical and spiritual support
  • Reaching out to local Arabic speakers, immigrants, and refugees with the Gospel

As a result, tens of thousands of displaced families have been served — and many have embraced faith in Jesus Christ.

Jalil’s cultural perspective, coupled with his language and biblical training, uniquely positions him to create effective resources that bring the hope of the Lord to refugees across the globe.

Resources like his program, Stranger on the Earth, which is broadcast on SAT 7 and has reached more than 25 million Arabic speakers to date. Or his weekly social media messages that share God’s Word with Arabic speakers worldwide. Or his autobiography, The Refugee, or his book, Sola Scriptura Training Resources, that prepares Christian leaders from Arab backgrounds for ministry.

Jalil’s opinion pieces have appeared on FoxNews.com and in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Chicago Tribune, Miami Herald, and Dallas Morning News. He has also appeared on Christian television outlets like CBN.
